These terms are an agreement between you and Scout Civics. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
The service
Scout Civics is an independent study product that helps you practice for the U.S. citizenship civics test, the English test and the interview. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to USCIS or any U.S. government agency. Using it does not guarantee that you will pass your test or interview or be granted citizenship.
Not legal advice
Scout Civics, including Scout AI, provides educational information only. We are not lawyers or accredited representatives and we don't give immigration or legal advice. For questions about your case, eligibility or forms, talk to a licensed immigration attorney or a DOJ-accredited representative, and be careful with anyone who is not authorized to give immigration advice.
Official content
The civics questions and answers come from official USCIS materials and are shown word for word. Some answers change when officeholders change; we update them from official sources, but always check uscis.gov before your interview.
Your account
You must be at least 18 years old. Give accurate information, keep your password private and don't share your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using it.
Plans, automatic renewal and cancellation
The free plan includes part of the content. Premium is a subscription billed in advance: $9.90 every month, or $49.50 every 6 months (prices in U.S. dollars; taxes may apply). Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, charging the payment method on file, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Profile → Manage billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep access until then. If a free trial is offered, it is available once per person and converts automatically into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.
Refunds and price changes
Payments are not refundable for periods already started, except where the law requires otherwise. If you believe you were charged by mistake, contact us within 30 days and we'll review it. If we change a price, we'll tell you in advance and the new price will apply only from your next renewal, so you can cancel before it takes effect.
Scout AI
Scout AI is an automated study helper and can make mistakes. Official answer cards in the chat come from the USCIS list; everything else is educational explanation. Daily message limits apply. Don't rely on Scout AI for decisions about your case.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break its security, no automated scraping or copying of its content for resale, no sharing of paid access, and no abusive or illegal content in chats.
Our content
The app, its design, the Scout character and our explanations belong to Scout Civics and are licensed to you for personal study only. Official U.S. government materials remain public domain. You keep ownership of what you write; you allow us to store and process it only to provide the service to you.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we don't make warranties beyond those stated here, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages or for the outcome of any test, interview or application. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending the service
You can delete your account at any time in Profile. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we'll tell you why when we can. If we ever stop offering the service, we'll give reasonable notice and refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Scout Civics is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, please contact us so we can try to solve the problem informally.
Changes
We may update these terms. If the changes are important, we'll tell you in the app or by e-mail before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
